The Missing Centuries of Joseph Horne: (1739 - 1952)

This audiobook is narrated by a digital voice.

“I reckon you got three more days afore that poor boy falls apart. Get him back to where he wuz found.”

Dr Daniele (Dani) Corby knows the boundaries of reality. As a psychiatrist in 1950s Miami, her job is to cure delusions. But her newest patient, Joey Horne, refuses to be cured. Found naked inside a Haitian man’s family casket, Joey appears perfectly healthy, yet he speaks openly and vividly of a past that defies science. He tells tales of 1700s ocean voyages, pirate attacks, and an ancient underworld of spirits.

When Dani tracks his name to centuries-old maritime registries in England, her clinical world shatters. Joey isn't mad. But the moment his secrets are unlocked under past-life regression hypnosis, a terrifying transformation begins.

Joey’s healthy facade rapidly unravels. His skin turns blue-grey and paper-thin as centuries of decay catches up to him in a matter of days. When a terrifying Vodou goddess invades Dani's apartment to demand the boy's return to Haiti, Dani is forced to choose between her medical oath and a supernatural quest. To save Joey before he declines into a complete zombi state, she must abduct him, outrun the authorities, and plunge into a vivid, blood-soaked mythic reality.

From the sterile observation rooms of mid-century America to a candle-lit graveyard in the Haitian jungle, Dani is lured into a cosmic game of chess between forces she cannot comprehend. She must find the courage to witness the end of Joey's journey—even if the price of entry into the underworld is her own reality.
