Do you love pets, recipes, coffee shops, small southern town charm, and cozy mysteries? If yes, then this is a book for you. Mocha and Murder is book 2 of A Killer Coffee Mystery Series by Tonya Kappes. This is a great follow up to the first book Scene of the Grind. Ex-lawyer and coffee shop owner Roxy stumbles across another murder in which one of her friends appears to have committed. Roxy is asked to help clear her friend of being a suspect. Can Roxy clear her friend’s name while dealing with a new engagement, her volunteer duties, her family, running her store, and helping animals find their forever homes? Our main character Roxy is a very busy lady but she will always find time to help out those she cares about--human or animal. I love all the characters with their quirky southern personalities but other than the animals, Roxy is my favorite character. I love her passion for her family, love for animals, and desire to solve mysteries. In the first book we see Roxy’s new relationship with Patrick start to move pretty quickly. In Mocha and Murder, Roxy wants to slow things down and really get reacquainted with one another. I am so glad author Tonya Kappes decided slow things down, by doing this she makes Roxy more realistic and level headed. She is smart and is not going to be controlled only by her heart. She will also listen to her brain and make decisions that are going to better for her in the long run.
