A shipwreck leaves renowned big-game hunter Sanger Rainsford stranded on a remote island. There, he discovers an imposing estate belonging to General Zaroff, an aristocratic hunter who claims to share Rainsford's passion for the sport.
But Zaroff has grown bored with hunting animals.
He has found prey that can reason, anticipate danger, and fight back.
When Rainsford becomes the target of Zaroff's newest game, the hunter suddenly finds himself hunted. Alone on the island, with danger closing in around him, he must rely on his instincts, courage, and knowledge of the hunt to survive.
Richard Connell's The Most Dangerous Game is a classic survival thriller built around suspense, pursuit, moral conflict, and one of fiction's most enduring reversals: the hunter becomes the hunted.
This Modern English Edition presents Connell's story in clear, natural contemporary language while preserving the central plot, tension, atmosphere, and moral conflict of the original.
The audiobook also includes an original companion, offering additional context and reflection after the story.
Narrated by Luke Meinier Dalofin, this edition offers a contemporary way to experience one of the most influential short thrillers of the twentieth century.
