In a personal but objective narrative based on the H.M.S. Bounty's log, Commander William Bligh himself tells of the stormy voyage to Tahiti, his crew's insatiable attachment to the island paradise, and the incredible 3,600-mile journey to safety after the mutineers cast him---and eighteen loyal crew members---adrift in a small, open boat with few supplies.

Having listened to many British naval historical novels (and non-fiction accounts), the hardest part about this book was listening to the narrator read it with an AMERICAN accent, rather than a BRITISH one.

This is the story as told by Lt. Bligh himself. It contains a lot of detail about navigation and weather that might make it tedious if you are expecting a novel. I enjoyed it. The prose is crisp. It is a credit to the author. I enjoyed the narrative style. It was about the way I'd expect a sea captain to tell the story.
