Unabridged Audiobook
I've read a few of Loretta Chase's books in the past and enjoyed them. So I looked forward to this one, despite the fact that I hadn't read the first two books in this Difficult Dukes series. That was probably a mistake, because while I liked this one well enough, it fell a bit short for me and of the reasons was that I often felt like I was missing some needed context. Apparently the timeline of this one brackets those first two books, and based on other reviewers that felt the same way I did I highly recommend reading those two before this one. Otherwise, I enjoyed the characters here, who are so clearly attracted to each other despite their attempts to set aside that attraction. They're smart, they're goodhearted, and it's easy to pull for their happy ending. At times it did drag a bit but again, that could've been my missing some of the context. The narration by Kate Reading was excellent - her narrations always add to my enjoyment of any book. Overall this was a book that I enjoyed, but I'm sure I would've enjoyed it even more had I not read it out of the series order.
