Unabridged Audiobook
The book was absolutely amazing! Knowing it's based on a true story makes it all the more powerful and inspiring. I have a newfound appreciation for Jeremy Renner -not just as an actor, but as a person. I'm so grateful he chose to share his journey with such honesty and heart. Through his words, he brings to light important life lessons that resonate with all of us. Wishing you continued healing and strength, Mr Renner. Be well.
Loved this book!
I wanted to like it, however the repetitive bloviation was a bit much. The narrating made me laugh out loud @ times-that I enjoyed.
This is a story of perseverance and love! Mr. Renner, you have the power to become a saint. Read Matthew Kelly’s “The Forgotten Way” to find out how. I look forward to your next book about your sainthood journey.
I love this book, and love you!
Listen to the audiobook version instead of reading this one--the audio contains portions of the actual 911 call. This book is not appropriate for everyone. If you are medically squeamish, the graphic description of what happened during "the incident" is going to make you throw up. If you don't like frequent f-bombs and other cursing, this is probably not the book for you. And if you don't want to hear about his light-and-love, "New Thought" religious perspective, this is also not the book for you. (New Thought: read "Happy Lies" by Melissa Dougherty) But I loved My Next Breath. I've been in the ED as an RN for traumas like this and they stick with you. It's really nice to hear about the whole thing, from what was going on in his head before he made a disastrous mistake, to during the crushing, to in the hospital, and to the healing process. The book is well done. His guilt and grief were profound throughout the book; they have shaped his life. And his mantra of who he is "father, son, brother, friend" was spoken over and over again since it anchors him to what really matters. Is it factually accurate? From his perspective, yes. He had an out-of-body experience and those with him said his color changed. Did he actually, medically, die? No, he still had a heartbeat (18bpm) and was hypothermic, so he didn't meet the criteria. But does that matter? Not really. He, and those with him, believed that he died and that shaped the collective experiences. (I'm specifically responding to some other RN reviews.) Overall, I loved this book and binged it. I love how it's more his telling his story than reading the book. He chuckles, laughs, cries, and shows other emotion while reading.
book sucked. couldn't finish it.
So happy he recovered. Shows the power of the will to live .
Great book and person!
Inspiring. I could feel the love for his family. I could hear the pain in his voice. Overall, An inspiring book
I like that Jeremy actually read the book that was pretty cool, all detail of his accident and the events after were great. I can see why he didn't want to write it, the violence as he calls it was imagined in my head. I am glad everything worked out, great book.
Such a crazy incident and amazing that he lived to tell the tale. He reads it with full authenticity.
Best book I’ve listened to in a while. Thank You Mr. Renee for writing it. “Keep Life Simple”. Mental note. I can’t wait to see what God has planned for you next. Great things I can imagine. Hugs and kisses to Ava.
The man has a core like Hercules. His guardian angel had their work cut out for them that day.
An amazing story!!!!
Very good book.
So insightful, so inspiring. Tragic circumstances has brought you so much. It takes a certain kind of human being to rise above the ashes and recognize that you have a second chance and it is not being taken for granted. I always appreciated you as an actor and certainly as a human being, but I have a new and profound opinion now. I am even more in awe of you than I was before.
It was like watching a Movie. Detailed. Animated. That Snow Cat is something else but Jeremy Renner is more than something. He won!
It was very interesting to hear how he got through this horrible event. He can ramble and repeat himself a bit… yet I really enjoyed it!!
