We are back in Stone Ridge, TX and this time the story centers around Jackson Carver and Eve Iglesias . We met them in the previous book that belonged to Lincoln, Jackson’s older brother. Eve and Jackson were HS sweethearts. She had dreams of becoming a veterinarian , and Jackson of becoming a country singer. When minutes before the wedding Eve sees Jackson talking on the phone and realizes he will give up his dream to stay in town, Eve leaves him at the altar. He feels betrayed not understanding why she left him, and the town ended up sympathizing with him. Eight years later , she’s now 28 and a veterinarian, and though his songs are doing well, Jackson still hasn’t made it big in Nashville. When his brother asks him to be his best man, he returns home. Not happy to know that Eve will Sadie’s maid of honor. Their first encounter was hostile and Jackson realizes that Eve is no longer the girl he knew. What happened to her? Why is she afraid? Answers he’s determined to find out and as he does , he acknowledges that the attraction is still there . Can they move forward? This is a story about compromises, second chances as well as about family, duties, dreams and the reality of life. The story not only has interesting main characters but also very good secondary ones. Though I am still partial to book one, it still was an engaging and thoughtful story. Nashville Cowboy is considered a stand alone, but I truly believe that to get the real essence of the story, you would benefit by reading Lucky Cowboy.
