Unabridged Audiobook
I liked it but I read it after reading When the Wolf Comes Home and I think that tampered my experience because When the Wolf Comes Home is one of my top reads of the year. The narrators were fine and the listening experience was pleasant.
great book,.. came together nicely
First things first. I thought the narrator did a wonderful job, and the writing was good. I thought I would love this book as I did the title Mary by this author, which is by far one of my favorite books now. However, this one missed the mark, in my opinion. I understand authors take inspiration from real-life experiences as well as other authors; I mean, come on, what horror writer worth weight hasn't taken inspiration from the one and only Stephen King? But this book was American Horror Story Hotel meets Salem Lot, only with different characters and monsters. It just wasn't as good as Mary. Yes, with the author's note at the end, I can understand the pressures of a crazy life, but come on, this was just flat. Would I buy another book by this author? Of course. One unlikable book doesn't equal tossing an obviously talented author. Maybe the next one will be a bit more original.
