Unabridged Audiobook
I was totally sold on this book when I spotted the gorgeously festive and cute front cover - my daughter is obsessed with penguins and so I always spot them a mile away and I just knew I'd have to grab this one and give it a read! So although this is set around Christmas time, with both main characters not loving Christmas for various reasons, this was less festive than I'd expected. However, I did really love the meet and the contrast between James' look and his views. This was quite the amusing beginning. This wasn't quite what I'd been expecting from the depiction on the front cover, but even so I liked the concept of the ex keep turning up (even if it did feel a little stalker-ish at times) There were some lovely fun moments in this but also some real soul searching and coming to terms with past traumas. I loved James and was really rooting for him and Felicity - but I found some of the decisions made by both of them a little odd at times. I was just willing them to talk to each other and get it sorted - but I guess they both needed to sort their other issues out first. The writing style still remained light on the whole and easy to read and I did find myself laughing out loud in places too. I raced through this in just a couple of sittings and just had to find out how things ended. I found the ending super satisfying, with all loose ends tied up nicely and of course, with some added penguin fun too (and kitties!) I also listened to the audio book for this one and it was brilliantly narrated throughout. With all the characters' personalities coming across beautifully. This is my first read by this author and I can't wait to read more in the future....
