Summary
From #1 bestselling mystery and suspense author Blake Pierce comes a gripping new series: when a serial killer escapes from a mental hospital, the FBI creates an elite unit to target criminally-insane killers. FBI Special Agent Valerie Law, a rising star, is the perfect candidate—but for Valerie, this case may just hit too close to home.

“A masterpiece of thriller and mystery.”
—Books and Movie Reviews, Roberto Mattos (re Once Gone)

With an insane killer on a spree, the clock is ticking for Valerie and her partner—and the brilliant psychiatrist on their team—to enter his mind and stop him before he strikes again. The twisted pathway to his psyche takes them down the dark road of the killer’s past, into orphanages, alienated family members, and shattered survivors.

It is a road that may be too dark for even Valerie—one of the best BAU agents—to head down. She has tried too hard to escape her own past to withstand much more on her psyche.

And when the killer sets his sights on her, it may just be her final undoing.

Is Valerie one step ahead of this killer?

Or has she walked right into a trap?

A page-turning crime thriller featuring a brilliant and haunted new female protagonist, the VALERIE LAW mystery series is packed with suspense and driven by a breakneck pace that will keep you turning pages late into the night.

NO MERCY is book #1, and books #2 and #3 in the series—NO PITY and NO FEAR—are now also available.

I would listen to the series if it's as good as this first one

Good suspense detective novel, not predictable. Characters are well set up for future books... Add this author to my list to look out for. Narrator was excellent I like iy when they don't try to do "voices" and great to hear an English accent ❤️

I want the next reading

Having listened to the first two chapters, I’m sure this is a gripping book. Unfortunately the narration made it impossible for me to listen to any more of it. Every sentence is over dramatic and there is no natural flow to the speech. If it was re-recorded with a different narrator I would certainly give it another try.

Very pedestrian with dull narration

I couldn't finish this book due to the truly dreadful narrator. The first time I've felt this way in the hundreds of audio books I've listened to.

Reasonably good story, but difficult to get through because of the narrator. First of all, why a British narrator for a book about an American FBI agent? Mostly, however, the problem is that the narrator reads EVERY sentence so dramatically that you would think something huge is about to happen. Over the top dramatics.

Worst book and narrator I have had to this point!

First time user of Audiobooks.com and all I can say is this book alone stirred me to get a paying account. Currently on the free trial but already planning on keeping this. The narration in this book was just excellent. This is exactly what I was looking for in terms of an audiobook experience. Unfortunately, I have come across some books where the narrator is just so boring, the reading so staccato, that it makes the book boring. I need to feel like I am in the book, be able to visualize what I am hearing. It's a huge plus if the narrator does a good enough job where it forces me away from my reality. I find myself fully enthralled in the story making my boring, sometimes unpleasant life fade away as I find myself living in the mystery. Don't get me wrong, it's not like I just sit away and just listen. No! The beauty of this is I am able to listen while I am working. I am tuned in but still able to focus on my work but it somehow makes my work more enjoyable. I find myself listening, on the edge of my, well feet, because I am constantly moving but feel almost as if I am in an adventure. The narrator in this book alone did that for me. I could have honestly finished the entire book in one day because I couldn't wait to find out what happens next. Highly recommend, thoroughly enjoyed. First book so far that I didn't mind rewinding if I missed parts because the story and the narration were just that strong. Thank you!!!
