Summary
Cold cases, hot leads, a psychic psychopath, a copycat killer, cursed objects, the trial of the century-and wedding plans.

Psychic medium Simon Kincaide and sexy homicide detective Vic D'Amato met hunting a supernatural serial killer. Since then, Simon has become a police consultant on cases involving the paranormal, and Vic has gotten over his doubts about Simon's abilities being real. Along the way, they fell in love and got engaged. But it seems like the danger never ends.

Now, the first case Simon and Vic worked together comes back to haunt them as the killer goes to court and all hell breaks loose. The killer has a crazy fan setting curses on key players in the upcoming trial. Ghosts from an old cold case suggest that someone got away with murder. "No Surrender" by Morgan Brice certainly won't be my last book by this author. I really liked the writing style. Morgan Brice manages to tell the story in such detail that you feel like you are right there. The story was exciting and captivating at the same time. I found the two main characters Simon and Vic likeable, as well as Ross, Vic's partner. The trial of the slasher is getting closer and that means stress for Vic and Simon. And the reporters don't want to miss a thing either, but unforeseen circumstances seem to put the trial in danger of being postponed. When a series of "accidents" befall the people involved in the trial, Simon and Vic set out to find the culprit. But it's not all about action and suspense in the form of unpredictable twists and turns. Simon and Vic's story is also heartwarming, especially in regards to their upcoming wedding. The different storylines alternately provide romantic moments while reading, then again a lot of suspense or even horror. And in the end, they are cleverly resolved and brought together by Morgan Brice. And hovering over it all is the constant suspense of whether they will even make it to the trial. This was really well done and so much fun to be a part of in Myrtle Beach. Kale Williams was phenomenal as the narrator. He brought the story to life and he gave the characters perfectly fitting voices. He portrayed the emotions very well and it was an aboslute pleasure for me to listen to him. He made a great story even better!I look forward to another audiobook with Williams and Brice!

Kale Williams does an amazing job with this book. His smooth voice manages to capture both Vic and Simon and their differences which make them work so well together. It is so much fun to watch the different ways that Simon and Vic respond to the mysteries in thier lives. I have really enjoyed watching how Vic has grown in his support of Simon and his belief is the supernatural. I think the interactions between the supernatural element and the detectives are some of my favorite moments. The series keeps getting better. Some very creepy moments connected to the first book and all new creepy times. Plus some sweet and smexy times with Vic and Simon.

“No Surrender” is book 5 in the Badlands series. I love these books, when I found her Morgan Brice quickly became one of my favorite paranormal authors. And one of the few authors that I will read and listen to. I absolutely love the way that Kale Williams bring Vic and Simon to life. This story is aptly titles as the guys have come nearly full circle from meeting and falling for each other to planning their wedding. There are ghosts (figuratively and literally), action and suspense. The characters are great and the story flows. There is a lot going on but I didn’t feel lost at any point. I just kept wanting more! I look forward to what is next from Morgan Brice.

No Surrender is Book 5 in the Badlands series. I love Simon and Vic. They are great characters and work so well together. This book is fast paced, action packed, and suspenseful as they fight crime with a paranormal edge and do some wedding planning. I love this world and can't get enough. You just never know what's going to happen or where the story might take you. I definitely recommend this book and series.  Narrator Kale Williams does a fabulous job. I could listen to him all day.

Simon and Vic are back! The Badlands was the first Morgan Brice series I ever embarked upon and although I love Witchbane—and some of the others—it continues to be my favorite. In other words, I was thrilled to dive into another book with my favorite men. They’ve come a long way since I first met them. Simon’s settled into his post-academic career. He runs his ghost tour business as well as his psychic business. As demonstrated in this book, he does a lot of good in that role. Vic’s also made progress. He’s accepted Simon’s gift and is now willing to call on his fiancé to help out with police affairs. That help is especially appreciated in this new case. Well, or an old case. Together, they’d jailed the Slitter. Now the Slitter’s trial is coming up and all the people involved in the case – police, DA, judge – are all getting hurt or sick. If Simon can’t help solve the problem of who is doing this, the trial might not take place. Then there are also the disappearances that one of Simon’s clients has brought to the surface. Simon sees a dead woman and is convinced she met with foul play. Now he wants that investigation reopened so the victims might have some peace. There’s a whole ton of stuff going on in this book. Oh, yeah, and the men are trying to plan their wedding. Unique venue, anyone? I thoroughly enjoyed the book – especially Kale Williams’ wonderful narration. I just love these guys and will always seize any audiobook they’re in.

It’s always a pleasure to return to Vic and Simon for another round of paranormal intrigue. This time around, they’re waiting on the trial from the Slitter case from the first book of the series, but there are strange things happening that seem to be tied to the case, possibly putting it in jeopardy. Everyone involved in the case has become a target, so it’s a race to figure out what’s going on. To complicate things, there is also a set of cold cases from the eighties brought to their attention that may be tied to what’s happening…and you know that means more ghostly contacts to keep things interesting. We’re also treated to an appearance by Simon’s own ghost relative, Dante, to try and help with the cold cases. As I’ve come to expect from this author and this series, there’s enough going on to keep you on your toes and guessing through much of the story. I did feel like the resolutions to the different aspects going on felt a little rushed this time in the last quarter of the book, like things were jumping quickly from one thing to another so to me it seemed more tell than show, but I still enjoyed the reveals as they happened. A fun bonus was the wedding planning for Vic and Simon…I kinda hope to get an invite as it sounds like it’s going to be a great time ;-) No Surrender was a strong 4-star read/listen for me, and added a nice twist to the series by revisiting their first case. While you probably could read this one on its own, my recommendation would be to read the series in order for a more complete background on the prior events and a better feel for the fierce connection between the two main characters. For this audiobook version, Kale Williams delivered another solid narration, well-paced and with just enough differentiation in voices to identify characters who were speaking. I always enjoy his smooth tone, and am giving four stars for the narration.

I’ve now read several of Morgan Brice’s interconnected novels. One of the best things about Brice’s series is that the reader can jump in a any point. There’s always enough past detail given to catch the reader up on the action. I know, most people read series in order, but I guess I’m quirky in that sometimes I’ll randomly start in the middle of a series. The main characters, Vic and Simon, have one of the best ongoing relationships that I’ve read. They are absolutely confident in their love for one another, so there’s no relationship angst. There’s a maturity and communication between them that can seem all-to-rare in the romance genre. The paranormal and mystery aspects of the story are thoroughly enjoyable, That the residents of Myrtle Beach take the supernatural goings-on in stride adds to the realism. Aiding the plot are some great side characters with perspectives and clues that Simon and Vic use to solve the cases. They’re all wonderfully written. Kale Williams, with his quiet, soothing narration, does a marvelous job voicing this book. Recommended.

This book is amazing. The case going to trial is the one where Simon and Vic first met and it brings everything full circle. I love this couple and can’t get enough of their books. The narrator also does a good job with it and it easy to listen to.

Morgan Brice never stints on the mystery for the romance they work perfectly together and this book is no exception. We get to see Simon and Vic planning their wedding, but that is only a piece of what is going on here. The trial of their old nemesis the Slitter killer would be stressful enough on its own, but trial participants are being killed by cursed objects that are keyed much too precisely to them for comfort and a cold case from the 80s rears its ugly head. Are any or all of these things connected? This is one of the most packed episodes in the series but every piece is expertly handled and it is one of my favorites. Kale Williams does a wonderful job with these characters as always with his work. He's got a voice and a delivery that is always a pleasure to listen to.

Simon is a Has gifts. He had premonitions and also is a physic. He runs a ghost tour shop since he can actually see and talk to ghosts. He also helps the police since his fiancé is a cop. Vic use to not believe in ghosts or hoodoo until a case made him a believer and he met Simon. They are both set to testify in a big trial of a serial killer( you need to read the last book for this case) things start happening to key players and they find a fanboy may be trying to derail the trial and they come across a cold case that could be connected. Oh boy. I just love Morgan Brice. If you like supernatural stories with ghosts then you will love her too. This is just one of several of her series and you should read in order since it follows Vic and Simon. All of the characters are intriguing. The story is nail biting and suspenseful and you sort of get 2 in one! I love Vic and Simon and their romance is awesome! I highly highly recommend! I loved the book but loved the audio even more. Pacing is good, inflection is good and better yet I can listen to one of my favorite stories while doing chores or sitting in car At appointments.

I Love Vic and Simon! I read this book with my eyes when it was released last year and I loved it. I was so happy to get a review copy of the audiobook because I enjoy Kale Williams performances of Morgan Brice’s books. I think he does the perfect voices for Vic and Simon. I’ve never been disappointed when listening to a book that he performs. There isn’t anything else for me to say other than I what I already said when I reviewed the ebook last year so I’ve pasted that below: OMG, Morgan Brice sure does like to put Vic and Simon – and a few other characters – through the wringer. Just when I thought things were finally going smoothly and they had everything figured out, she threw something else at them. There are so many good things about this book it’s hard to know where to start. I loved all of the witty banter between the characters and especially between Vic and Simon. I also enjoyed the glimpses of characters from other books in the worlds created by Morgan Brice and her alter-ego Gail Z. Martin. As I’ve said many times before, the books in this series really can be read as standalones because Ms. Brice gives you the background you need to know the characters. I didn’t read them in the exact order and never felt lost. I will admit though, it might be more fun to read them in order. This book gripped me from beginning to end. It was at times terrifying when it looked like the bad guys might win, but it was also light-hearted enough in places to keep it from feeling too dark. If you’re looking for hot and sexy you won’t really find it in this book, although Vic and Simon do get it on a few times. What you will get is lots of action, adventure, mystery and suspense, and a great cast of characters that I can’t wait to hear more from. A copy of this audiobook was provided to me at my request but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author or narrator.
