Summary
The people we love are thieves. They steal our hearts. They steal our breath. They steal our sanity. And we let them. Over and over and over again.

They say you never forget your first love.

Mine was a homeless musician who wandered straight into my soul.

He was my first everything. And fourteen years later, I still can't get him out of my head.

He broke all my rules. He also broke my heart.

I watched him climb to stardom, cheering him on from afar. But I was never a fan; just a girl in love.

Like a tornado, he spiraled, leaving a path of destruction in his wake.

But love conquers all, right? It has to. Because here I stand, ravaged and ruined, needing it to be true.

We can't go back, but I want to. Back to the park. Back to when he sang only for me. Before he was famous. Before he shattered my heart.

I thought I knew everything about him. But I could not have been more wrong.

He promised me every tomorrow. And here I am, waiting.

And hoping.

Again.

TW: Substance abuse, Mental Breakdowns Ok, I recommend reading the reviews before reading this story. This story was wonderful, and depressing. I couldn't put it down once I started, but there were portions I skipped due to too much sex and not enough plot. The couple also spends more time apart than they do together -- so keep that in mind if you're looking for a softer romance.

This is not the typical romance. The main character never learns from her mistakes and repeats them through out the book. It becomes a bit annoying. The storyline is a bit dark and I found myself rolling my eyes over and over again. Think about your one train wreck of a friend and put it in a story. This is it. The narrator is great.

this book is a journey through time, love, addiction, mental illness. it's an incredible story and had me sobbing at times. I highly recommend it but it slightly broke me if I'm honest. I'm having to take a little break after listening to it.

I am about 5 hours in and it's been clear Evan has mental illness. Piper loves him anyway but she is nieve. I am sure the book finishes well but I just can't see (hear) it through.

OMG. The absolute best story ever. I cried throughout. Wonderful characters, deeply moving; just wonderful. Long, but worth it.
