Summary
GOOD MORNING AMERICA BOOK CLUB PICK • The #1 New York Times bestselling author of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder—now a hit Netflix series—returns with her first novel for adults: an “irresistible” (The Washington Post) thriller about a young woman trying to solve her own murder, “full of the writer’s signature twists and turns” (People).

“This truly unique premise snowballs into a roller-coaster ride of page-turning suspense and knock-out twists!”—Freida McFadden, author of The Housemaid

In seven days, Jet Mason will be dead.

Jet is the daughter of one of the wealthiest families in Woodstock, Vermont. Twenty-seven years old and back home, she’s still waiting for her life to begin. I’ll do it later, she always says. She has time.

Until Halloween night, when she is violently attacked by an unseen intruder, suffering a catastrophic head injury. Doctors are certain that within a week, the injury will trigger a fatal aneurysm. To her parents’ dismay, Jet rejects an extremely risky operation in order to guarantee herself at least a few more days.

Jet never thought of herself as having enemies. But now, in the one week she has left, she looks at everyone in a new light: her family, her former best friend turned sister-in-law, her ex-boyfriend.

As her condition deteriorates, she reconnects with her childhood friend Billy, the only one willing to help her. With Billy at her side, she’s absolutely determined to finally finish something:

Jet is going to solve her own murder.

This was the first audio book I had to just turn off. I couldn't make it through this one. The Narrator's voice and character voice changes were just terrible. Way too much usage of the "F" word over and over. This book was just plain awful, sorry. -An avid reader and lover of this genre, but not this one. It's a 0/5 for me.

Was not expecting a YA vibe but it was. The narrator’s voice was irritating The book was just ok.

Not an especially likable main character and the narrator gave all supporting characters INCREDIBLY annoying voices. Predictable ending, predictable “romance”…difficult listen with an eye rolling ending.

I liked the story and the main characters. The writing wasn’t amazing, but the story was interesting. Some of the unanswered questions at the end were annoying though. But, it had some good twists and was fun to listen to. The narrator’s voice was scratchy and didn’t really care for it.

The story was intriguing, but the narrator's voice was trying, at best. But for the development of the plot, which had a twist I did not see coming(!), I would have stopped listening! I really can't believe the production team choice this voice actor.

Book was ok. Narrators awful!

This was written like a YA novel if YA liked to drop the F bomb every other word. The narrator was like nails on a chalkboard, with one of the "voices," the lead male, sounding like Bobby Hill from King of the Hill. It was the longest book I ever had to listen to. Yikes.

First, worth the listen. Now, in reality there is a lot that doesn’t make sense. Like having a severe brain injury and jumping out of a hospital bed, wielding a sledgehammer a couple of days later. I think this would be in the YA section if it weren’t for the constant use of the F word. I almost put it down in the first few minutes because the protagonist was such a smart Alec at the carnival. The narrator made Jet and Billy sound like they were teenagers instead of late 20’s.

Not for me. It reads like a young adult novel but not very interesting or fun. The characters are unrealistic at best and annoying at worst.

Oh. My. Word! Holly Jackson sure knows how to write a mystery novel!

Meh. Jerry springer meets desperate housewives. It’s not my cup of tea, but I guess people like it. I wasn’t a fan of the narrator too. Not sure why people love this book.

Book was great. Never excepted who the killer was.

This was really fun!!! Definitely a new take on the genre. It’s pretty clear how it’s going to end at about 80%, but still super fun and I love that the books plot is seen through (I was worried there would be some cop out but our MC’s fate is their fate). However, TERRIBLE narrator. My god the voice almost made me DNF. Billy’s narration is even worse, these people are meant to be late 20s and sound like children. It was grating to me. I wish I read this over listened!

Keeps you guessing for sure !

A wonderful murder mystery that has the murdered victim still alive trying to figure out her killer. And a wow twist at the end! LOVE LOVED THE BOOK!
