Remarkable and absolutely riveting. I have never consumed a book so quickly. This is a tremendously well researched and extremely well thought out, step by step, second by second, minute by minute examination of a terrifying subject that needs to be part of the global conversation again. Based on a scenario that seems scarily realistic Annie builds a nightmarish - fact/data driven narrative that is, at once both impossible to look away from and completely horrifying to consider. This book scared me not only because of the obvious and inevitable outcome of a nuclear conflict but also because of how close we are to actually stumbling into one. She also does amasterful narration, for me a perfect "read" I thoroughly recommend.

Incredible listen! Thought provoking on another level especially now in May 2026 as global tensions heighten. A well-balanced mix of information/technical detail, history and storytelling. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

A fantastic, extremely in-depth and terrifying account of the completely insane situation the world is currently in. The second by second and then minute by minute account of exactly what would happen in the event of an attack is chilling. The level of detail included and accuracy of the scenario brings to life the fog, panic and chaos that would ensue in the event of a single nuclear attack. The information in this book having come directly from those who actually worked as part of the nuclear ‘command and control’ system makes the horrifying chain of events even more disturbing. The only thing missing in this book is a call to action to remedy the issue that politicians do not address this problem because the electorate don’t bring it up - mostly because they do not know how close everyone is to total annihilation and that there is no defence against an ICBM or SLBM… Everyone should read this book.
