Summary
Trudy has betrayed her husband, John. She's still in the marital home – a dilapidated, priceless London townhouse – but not with John. Instead, she's with his brother, the profoundly banal Claude, and the two of them have a plan. But there is a witness to their plot: the inquisitive, nine-month-old resident of Trudy's womb.

Told from a perspective unlike any other, Nutshell is a classic tale of murder and deceit from one of the world’s master storytellers.

I really enjoyed this latest quality McEwan. Wonderful descriptions of a decaying house and decaying relationships in a decaying world. Thought about giving it a 5 but, unlike most of his earlier novels it was hard to like any of the main characters much which was a challenge for me - but then I don't think we were supposed to. Truly original perspective from a fetus who hilariously is already a wine buff / piss-head based on his mother's consumption habits. Compelling read which I finished in a day. Vintage McEwan and an easy listen. Kinnear gives it a quality wrapper! Definitely recommend.
