This illuminating book lifts the veil of secrecy shrouding the spiritual practice of Obeah and invites listeners to reconnect with their ancestral roots.

Written by an authentic Obeah woman, this book shares the truth and beauty of a deeply magical practice. While it will not initiate or train you in Obeah, this book will clear up misconceptions and provide a wealth of information that celebrates the tradition.

Emma Kathryn begins with the African origins of Obeah, the enslaved people who brought it to the Caribbean, and the criminalization of its beliefs and practices by European colonizers fearful of slave rebellions. Emma then seeks to redress the balance and retell the story of Obeah free of the colonialist bias. This book shares priceless information on this tradition, which is still outlawed in Jamaica today.
