Of Thieves and Shadows

I am personally very fussy with audiobook narrators but, in my opinion, Shiromi Arserio and Grant Cartwright excel in their narration of Twisted Pages novels every single time. This fierce Cinderella retelling spares no mercy with it's main characters. Shiromi perfectly portrays the personal trauma Aika faces and the way her loyalties are pulled in every direction. Aika’s growth and pain is as evident in Shiromi’s voice as it is through the page. Conversely, Remy is constantly reeling and reassessing his new bride with each discovery into her past (and current) activities. Grant’s cool, controlled, clipped tones really bring Remy to life and both narrators’ talent and range shines through when Zaina and Einar gain their long-awaited POV chapters. With an amazing level of sass, a super cute animal friend and a grandma who drinks martinis for breakfast, Elle and Robin ensure that OTAS isn't entirely doom and gloom but regardless, I was still on the edge of my seat to the very last page. Of Thieves and Shadows is a no-holds-barred, twisty, tension filled finale to Aika's duology which has been perfectly brought to life by Arserio and Cartwright’s superb narration. **Please be warned, OTAS does explore themes and memories of torture, history of child abuse, childhood sexual assault and attempted sexual assault.

I love this twisted series! As this is book 4, you definitely want to read or listen to the first few books before diving in here, but you won’t want to miss this one! The twists and turns of what Madame can come up with will keep you invested through to the end! It’s like Madame is related to the Grimm brothers herself! The narrators do a good job bringing the characters to life. There was some static in a couple spots, but I don’t know if that was something on the recording or something on my end? Regardless, it’s not enough to take away from the story.

Amazing! As always, I’m blown away by this author and her ability to transport readers and listeners into these stories so effortlessly. The world is intense and exciting. I loved the new take on Cinderella and the more adult storyline.

I was just drawn into this wonderful story and I just couldn’t get enough of it. It was just so easy to get lost in this great story. I just didn’t want it to end. I just lost myself in and I just couldn’t get enough of these interesting characters. I can’t wait to see what’s next from this author.

Wonderful!!!!! The writing duo of Elle Madison and Robin Mahle are one of my all-time favorites, and this series is no exception. Narrators did a superb job with voicing the different characters. The storyline itself is filled with all the elements I love in a fantasy romance. This retelling is uniquely done, and I highly recommend it.
