Unabridged Audiobook
What is it about the grumpy hero with a big heart and a protective streak that makes me melt? Chris Chambers and Stephanie Rose give an outstanding performance, bringing this book to life. You feel the underlying love Amelia and Shane have for each other, the tension as their relationship evolves into something more, and the chemistry they ignite. Add in the friend group antics and small-town shenanigans, and you'll be swept off your feet in this deliciously fun and steamy read.
This story was so precious I loved Shane and Amelia so much. In the previous books, Shane is such a gruff, quiet, stoic man that his story was a mystery and seeing him unfold and that his stoicism was just from unrequited love and pining for Amelia was so sweet! He's been waiting for his moment for so many years and trying to navigate the tricky business of moving from friends to lovers had reached its boiling point and in haste, Shane makes his move. Amelia is a strong, independent single mom who has always loved Shane but never realized that they could be more until Shane made his intentions known. After getting pregnant young and essentially forced into a makeshift marriage and family with the baby's father, she spent years trying to keep a family together with a man that never truly loved her. After leaving him and starting over with her two children, she has repurposed her pain into purpose and made a life for her children, and Shane was her rock through it all. I love the dynamic that Shane has with Luke and Mariah and how they've always been a unit together, they just needed that last missing piece of Amelia and Shane's love story to complete the picture. The way that Shane made himself a staple in the kids' lives and a father figure without hesitation was beautiful to see! Initially they start their relationship out in secret because they want to figure things out alone before all their friends and family insert themselves, but things spiral out of control and too many people end up taking the reins on their relationship besides them, making them drift apart. The way that they navigate the craziness and realize that they just need to keep listening and choosing each other was a sweet way to culminate their story. And the teasers for Simon's story are JUICY! Stephanie Rose and Chris Chambers were fantastic. I love the continuity in narrators for the series but how they embody these completely different characters so well. It's a testament to their talent and I'm excited for the rest of the series. Loved this story and excited for Simon and Charlie!
I jumped on the Rolling Hills train at Simon’s book and then I immediately realized I needed to go back and read all the others. So I was beyond thrilled when I found out she was re releasing them as audiobooks!!!! And this one didn’t disappoint at all!!! If you have read any of these books I know you’ll agree with me when I say they are addictive. I am so glad to see Shane and Amelia’s story! I have loved these two and I’m so glad they found each other in this perfect small town friends to lovers, it’s always been you romance! First let me say that Shane oh Shane is the epitome of a book boyfriend with devoted chosen dad vibes! He doesn’t even take a nano second to think about being in her kids lives he has been there from the beginning even more so than their jerk dad. And he always has Amelia’s back. I love a good fuck it moment and this one has one that is so delicious!!! Chelle can write a beautifully woven story with elements of humor and sadness. Hard subjects like a horrid ex with narcissistic tendencies and how it keeps effecting the person long after they have left the relationship. I felt so seen in that being someone who has been with a narcissist. I love the was she writes and the narrators did a fantastic job bringing these two to life with such emotion and heart in their speaking. This story warmed my heart and I am so glad I got to listen to it! I also will be having Chelle on my YouTube channel soon I cannot wait!!
I am loving this series more and more with each book. The One I Love follows Amelia and Shane which is a single mom, best friend to lovers romance and their romance has become my favorite of the series. Shane has been in love with Amelia since high school and he finally decides to tell her how he feels. She is a little hesitant at first with their friendship and his relationship with her children. I loved the way he was always there for her and her children. The chemistry is undeniable between them. These two will have you swooning and hit you in the feels with a few bumps in the road. Stephanie Rose and Chris Chambers perform this book in dual narration! These two made me fall in love with Amelia and Shane. Stephanie did an amazing job at capturing Amelia’s strength and determination. Chris does a great at portraying the longing and love he had for Amelia. I am loving the performances more with each book!
I loved this book and these characters when I first read it in print but, hearing these voices come to life was nothing short of fantastic! Amelia and Shane and their journey to HEA felt so real listening to this book and I loved every minute of it! A great listen!
4.5 This is one of the best friends to lovers novels i have read. The characters were easy to love and relate to. Although the conflict towards the end felt forced, the story flowed really well and will suck you right in from the beginning. This is the first time I've read this author and needless to say I have become a fan.The narrators were great in portraying the characters.
This is book 3 in the Rolling Hills Series. Each book is an interconnected stand alone that follow 4 best friends in the town of Rolling Hills. Each book will highlight one of the men and their love interest. This is Shane and Amelia's story. I listened to this book on audio. The narrator's are Chris Chambers and Stephanie Rose. Both of these voice actors are amazingly talented. With their different voices for each character and these books have a ton of characters. The story is full of comedy and heartache and you hear each of those emotions through these very talented actors. I highly recommend this audio book series! Now....I have been looking forward to Shane and Amelias book since the beginning. the friends to lovers trope gets me every time and I needed to hear their story. To have a love like Shane has had for Amelia....for years.......is so satisfying when they give in to those feelings. Add in the friends they share and Amelias children, you have one heck of an amazing story. The epilogue shows us what we have in store for book 4 which is Simon's story. I cannot wait to see what happens in that book. If you are looking for a series that will have you addicted to each and every character plus laugh through all of the books, this is your series. Chelle knows how to tell a story and this series is a favorite of mine. Dig in and be prepared for greatness!
Audiobook review: narrated by Chris Chambers and Stephanie Rose 4.5 stars for story / 5 stars for performance I absolutely adored Shane's character. The way he loves not only Amelia, but her kids as well, had me swooning like only the best book boyfriends can. There was a decent amount of angst due to Shane and Amelia having grown up together and with Amelia's ex hanging around the perimeter of the story. I also thought the "secret relationship" aspect brought a good amount of entertainment value as well. Overall it was such a satisfying romance with many layers that kept my attention throughout. The talent of the narrators had me locked in to this story for hours on end. Chris Chambers particularly embraced Shane's character so well. I really enjoyed his performance. Stephanie Rose's voice was so beautiful and a joy to listen to. She did an amazing job voicing not only Amelia, but the kids as well. Great job to both!!
Friends to lovers is often a hit or miss for me but Chelle Sloan knocked it out of the park and brought the angst with "The One I Love". My heart hurt for Shane! Finally after almost twenty years of loving Amelia from afar and being in the best friend zone, Shane finds himself fake engaged to Amelia. The entire fake engagement situation gets away from them very quickly. If you like a mature heroine, you will love Amelia. The One I Love was refreshing and heartbreaking. Five Stars! I listened to the audiobook and was sucked right in. The narration by Stephanie Rose and Chris Chambers elevates the story as they truly bring the characters to life.
