Unabridged Audiobook
Warning to all readers this book is very addictive.!!! One More Secret is book 1 in a trilogy so hello Cliffhanger!!!..Which has just made me NEED the next book ASAP... I Was totally and utterly consumed by this story,it had me intrigued from the very beginning as we are introduced to Jessica...which is not even her real name. She is escaping from her old life and the prison she has lived in for the past 5 years..trying to make a fresh start in a new town were nobody will know her or recognise her. An abusive husband and a crime she never committed has left Jess scarred on the inside and on the outside, suffering from PTSD which she denies and won't recognise. Troy Carson ex Marine all round good guy,Hot as hell and a guy who does anything to help PTSD suffers get their lives back,Usually ex military people. He is also building a safe place for ex vets to go and spend time in the outdoors to help them heal. Plus he has guilt over his friend who died because he didn't treat his PTSD and perished because of it. When he sees a woman he hasn't seen before at the lake,he recognises someone who is suffering from PTSD and tries talking to her.But all she in interested in is his support dog Butterscotch and doesn't engage with him much. Anyway Jess purchases a house that Troy wanted to flip its an old house and the owner was an old woman who passed away Iris. Jess finds old journals of Iris's and they tell of a story in wartime France in 1943..Angeliques journals are the second story within this book. So you get 2 solidly riveting stories in one book. Jessica smithson's story to stay as inconspicuous as much as she can and Angeliques story on how she is collaborating with THE FIRM to win the war against Hitler. Well Jess just can't stay hidden in a small town that just wants to be her friend, and Troy even becomes one of those friends and someone who helps renovate her new home. But Troy is attracted to Jess and would love more than friendship..But Jess feels so broken she can't give him what he wants...She is too busy hiding her past and keeping secrets. I LOVED Troy OMG he is like the perfect man,he was so caring and patient with Jess,he goes above and beyond to help her in any way possible. But she still didn't trust him or anyone Jess always thought there would be consequences to any of her actions. I felt so much heartbreak for Jess and what she had been through,I wanted her to be with Troy so bad and her struggles made me cry or tear up more than once.I cannot wait to find out her story properly,we only get snippets of the story. Then there are the journals and Angeliques journey in world war 2 and how she helps the resistance to take down the Germans. It is so enticing and on the edge stuff. My interest both peaked for both of the stories that playout throughout this book, and I could not get enough. Stina Lindenblatt has really outdone herself on this story so far,her writing is perfection and completely captivating.I have read numerous books by Stina and loved them, but there is something about this story that was something special...even her writing to me seemed different. I absolutley loved reading One More Secret and thoroughly enjoyed myself as the the story began to unravel I became more and more fascinated...especially with that cliffhanger I don't know if to be angry with Stina or applaud her for keeping me on my toes and shocking me. This is a Brillant story and I cannot wait for the next book. Excellent listen. 5 Stars. The narration is wonderful by Alex Knox and Ashley Bryce is Superb they both did an Amazing performing the characters in this story..with emotion and intensity I really enjoyed listening to them both tell me this story, Superb.
