Unabridged Audiobook
Only audiobook I’ve ever listened to in full. Her voice is incredibly soothing, and you can sense her genuineness. I’ve waited a long time to hear things from her perspective and it was worth the wait.
Her book helped me see how easily it is for any woman to get caught up in situations and become unable to leave whether for love, a better life or even one as a captive. Crystal was so young and primed for finding a more charmed life from an early age. She was raw, honest, open and filled with so many emotions as her life unfolded for her readers.
This is the first book i 'read' on the topic (in which i have little background, never read the magazine etc) so i can't compare but it was interesting and well-read. The latter is to be emphasized because having an auto-biography auto-narrated is a plus but can backfire if the author is not a good narrator. I also want to emphasize that I believe the particular situation, an extreme case of deriving comfort (in a physical not mental sense), security and self-worth from a situation which you know is in fact harmful and toxic generalizes well outside the peculiarities of her time and place. If i had to give a downside, i would say I'm convinced there are a lot of fascinating details not in the book. I'm not talking about all the stuff that is left out for privacy or decorum but it would just seem that organizing Heffner's scrapbooks with decades of history must have had more than just an instance or two of interest and years of seeing girls come and go must have given a more fine-grained insight in the characteristics of their circumstances and world-view. Anyway, maybe it wasnt worth repeating because they are in books i haven't read and this is meant to be Crystal's story.
Good book i think cant listen have to pay?
Really good book, well written, and narrated. I’m really not surprised by what went on in the mansion and in Hef’s world, but I have to commend her for her honesty and openness about what she went through. I wish her all the best for her future.
Very insightful
An amazing book! Not a tell-all, but it does confirm a lot of what previous playmate exposed about the realities of Hefne's carefully crafted image. It's a woman's journey of coping and finding herself after losing three important men in different stages of her life.
I apreciated she read the book herself and that she said things as they were.I have finished listening after 3 days quite shocked by the intimate information she provides.
Voice was so soothing and it didnt fele force. I finished the audiobook in 3 days at work and it was really amazing!
