Unabridged Audiobook
Amazing just amazing this is an amazing book just heart warming and funny and sad the best book ever
Considering Melody and her family and their day to day struggles has been an emotional journey. Listening to this moving story I have felt happiness, anger and frustration and excited as Melody explains what is going on for her.
The book was really AWSOME and it really was exciting to read and it really touched my heart and I think about stuff like that but now I actually do and I wish I could read it over again. It was one of my summer reading books and I really enjoyed it and everybody in my grade is going to be reading it and I hope they really enjoy and really think about it and I think it's really helpful to read the audiobook is reading it manually and it's really helpful to me so I just want to say thank you.
I love this book
Reading Out of My Mind was an immensely personal experience for me. As someone who lives with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy, Melody’s story resonated with me on a level that few books ever have.Even though my experience with CP isn't identical to Melody's—I am able to speak—that doesn't mean the daily challenges aren't real. Sharon Draper captures the emotional reality of living with a physical disability with incredible accuracy. I deeply identified with the frustrating moments Melody faces, like having people stare at you in public or dealing with doctors who make low assumptions about your intelligence and write off your potential before giving you a chance.Proving those doubters wrong is a huge part of my own life. When doctors said I would never achieve much, I went on to write and publish my very first book, The Drive Through Grief With Me. Holding that achievement in my hands was the ultimate "in your face" to every expert who ever doubted what someone with cerebral palsy can accomplish. The book also hits close to home on the everyday realities of independence and physical limitations. I can manage certain things on my own, like using the bathroom or brushing my teeth—though I have to use an electric toothbrush because a manual one just can't reach where I need it to. But due to my spasticity, other routine tasks like bathing or getting dressed remain really difficult. Beyond physical care, there are emotional hurdles too; navigating things like falling in love as a young man with a disability brings a lot of frustration, especially knowing romance won't look "normal" when your condition takes up so much of your life.Out of My Mind captures the triumphs, the frustrations, and the inner strength of navigating the world with CP. It’s a powerful, honest, and deeply relatable book that shows the world how much noise goes on inside a mind, even when others refuse to listen. I couldn't recommend it more highly.
Great and interesting book. Totally recommend. Much better than the movie.
I appreciate the different perspective. It makes you look through a different lens.
