A beautiful piece of writing.

One of the best books / audiobooks I’ve ever read / listened to. The narration starts slow a little but soon engrosses you into the most breathtaking story of a difficult period in the history of humanity. The story is set in the 1930s, but the lessons and values it transmits are timeless. Special mention to the audiobook narrator who makes you genuinely feel the characters’ various emotions as the events unfold. I highly recommend.

Really enjoyed this book and it’s thought provoking themes are still sadly relevant. I found the first part of the story a bit slow and over descriptive but once the plot got going, it was compulsive listening. Found the narrator’s voice a bit monotone at times. Overall, would highly recommend.

A really good description of what it must’ve been like during these dark times. Very nicely read and a great story.

what an amazing book. It takes you on a journey of yours & downs. At times I found myself crying. I would definitely recommend a listen.

Loved it from the outset, and as the author sought, can easily see in our current turmoil the similarities. Friends are already loving the recommendation to read. narrator made it seem real
