Summary
Suicide or the perfect cover-up?

Kenzi Brannon loves the single life in California. She hasn't looked back since the day she walked away from her painful past.

Everything comes crashing down when Kenzi gets a call about her estranged sister's suicide. If that news isn't shocking enough, she also learns that she is now guardian to Ember, a niece she doesn't even know.

Kenzi heads up north and finds herself in her family's long-abandoned house. Neighbors whisper rumors of hauntings, but Kenzi has a more serious concern-mounting evidence points to her sister's death not being self-inflicted.

When things in the house move seemingly on their own, Ember thinks it's ghosts. But Kenzi fears something far more sinister. Could the person who killed her sister now be after her and her niece?

This book was terrible! And the narrator was even worse! Don’t waist your time. It was childish and felt like a comic book. There were literally sentences like “crash”, “bang”, and “slap”. I can not believe it’s part of a trilogy. I’m certainly not wasting my time on the other two parts.

Childish and unbelievable events. Too many unrealistic and overlooked details

This has great reviews on Amazon, but I found the narrator to be extremely grating and did not find the story very suspenseful at all. I’m surprised this is part of a trilogy as I don’t care about the characters enough to keep going. The ending has a ridiculous twist as well.

15 minutes in and couldn’t even finish them. The narrator was grating on my nerves. Annoying voice.

This book had too much going on from the main story. A lot of it didn't connect and seemed pointless. it was entertaining but I wasn't blown away

Well, I read some of the reviews and wasn’t expecting a whole lot. Boy was I surprised! Some complained about the narrator’.I thought she was perfect for the ages of the main characters. Some minor curves toward the end but my jaw dropped at the end. Well played , Ms Claflin, well played! And don’t read the end first!!!

This was a terrible book. It was terribly edited, the story was contrived and frankly dumb. There was so much ridiculous, repetitive dialogue. The characters were one dimensional. I stuck it out until the end and felt dumber for having done so.

Good plot. Wished it was longer. Narrator has a great voice to follow along with.

I would classify this book as teen fiction. It is a little silly and childish at times.
