Unabridged Audiobook
This was a good book even though the ending was abrupt, The narrator did a great job.
This book started out with a dumb premise, easy to poke holes in, leaving you to wonder why the main character didn't do that. I stayed with it for a while to see whether the author would come up with a reason for me to suspend disbelief, but instead the author just had the characters try to justify the original dumb promise. I skipped a bunch of chapters in the middle to see what would happen at the end and it almost seemed to go in a direction which might have made the whole thing less dumb, but that didn't happen. The narrator was okay, but needs to work on child voices. A four-year-old shouldn't have vocal fry. I can recommend this book as something you would listen to when you don't really have to pay much attention, but not much else.
Intriguing and unexpected ending
I actually give this story 4 1/2 stars…losing half a star for throwing in too many twists near the end. I found it very engaging and well written other than that. The extra twists came off as gratuitous to me. I would read this author again and I do recommend this book. Narrator was very good.
