Love Brandy. The book is a diary of her innermost thoughts during important times in her life. The narration is a bit dramatic, but that’s just Brandy. Lol. The book is specifically for fans, topics are fluff, nothing too deep. But lots of vulnerable moments. Worth a listen.

As someone who has loved Brandy and her artistry for years, her memoir has allowed me to see beyond the carefully composed image of the "Vocal Bible" and better understand the woman who had to survive becoming an icon at such a young age. I appreciate that Brandy narrates about childhood insecurity, early fame, complicated relationships, motherhood, grief, mental-health struggles, and the pressures of carrying an image that didn't always leave room for her humanity. Structured through what I felt were intimate vignettes, the memoir moves much like memory itself, sometimes painful and fragmented, sometimes warm, humorous, and full of wonder. To me, the writing is conversational, emotionally accessible, and nicely metaphoric, which often makes it feel as though she is sitting across from the reader and finally telling her story in her own voice. Now there are moments of course, when she remains somewhat guarded or moves quickly through experiences I wanted her to explore more deeply; that restraint also feels understandable for someone whose life has been interpreted publicly for decades. Ultimately, I found this to be a moving account of a gifted Black girl becoming a famous young woman and, after years of expectations, mistakes, heartbreak, and healing, learning how to belong fully to herself. It's not a perfect bow, and that's what makes it a gift to fellow "Starz"
