Unabridged Audiobook
Brilliant
What a delight to hear this beautifully narrated story of his own life experiences. Compelling and illuminating. Expand your vocabulary and appreciation of the polyglot of the English language! My word: how far we have fallen! It is in the nuance and specific vocabulary of language that we see, hear and feel layers of meaning. Thank you David/M. Le Carre.
It helps hugely that the author read this as I think he’s a superb reader of his own work. One of the most enjoyable and least self aggrandising memoirs I’ve ever read. Never labouring his failings nor blowing his own trumpet. What a life he’s had. Given the opportunity, he’d have been someone I’d have liked to have met.
Absolutely a must read for all fans of Le Carré. His voice adds to the charm as is his self-depreciating humour. The man has seen the world, experienced political and social changes first hand talking to many who were responsible for those. And to the creation of his vast work … he made me curious to read them all again.
