Unabridged Audiobook
I really like this author but this novel started down a path I didn’t want to go. I read for entertainment not to be throughly disgusted with the way the legal system is warped to protect the guilty—common sense is gone in the name of legal purity. Unfortunately I believe this novel paints a picture all to true where a smart lawyer even though principled finds it his duty to outmaneuver a mediocre prosecutor and frees a horrible murderer but destroys the reputation of an innocent man. Spoiler alert—no happy ending in this book.
A fun plot that keeps one wondering as to what will eventually turn out to be true, with a really different (but refreshingly different) ending. I only gave the narrative four stars because there are two people and it was odd to have one speaking to the other as if listening to a radio play sometimes. Each narrator was fine by himself/herself (there is a female and a male narrator) but the intermingling was off putting at times.
