Policarpa se convierte en una de las figuras más visibles por ser la conexión entre quienes apoyaban la independencia y la guerrilla de los Llanos Orientales de Colombia. Fue llevada presa al Colegio de Nuestra Señora del Rosario, donde fue ejecutada junto con su novio, Alejo Savarín.

Policarpa became prominent in history because she turned out to be the link between the supporters of the independence movement and the guerrillas on the Eastern Plains of Colombia. Imprisoned in the College of Our Lady of the Rosario, she died by gunshot next to her boyfriend, Alejo Savarain.
