Political Wisdom: Australian Prime Ministers Share Their Wisdom

Political Wisdom is a rare collection of candid conversations with six former Australian prime ministers – Sir John Gorton, Malcolm Fraser, Bob Hawke, John Howard, Tony Abbott, and Malcolm Turnbull – by Brett Kelly, the founder and CEO of the global accounting network Kelly+Partners.

Conducted over nearly three decades, these revealing interviews offer readers the opportunity to hear directly from the men who led Australia through periods of political, economic and social change. Brett explores not only the policies and events that shaped their governments but also the experiences and influences that shaped them as leaders.

In Political Wisdom, Brett asks questions such as:

● Is there an idea, person or event that has had the single most profound impact on your life?
● What do you think are the most critical issues facing Australia in the next decade?
● Is there an acceptable level of unemployment?
● Is tax reform desirable?
● Should Australia become a republic?
● What will be your lasting legacy?

Each prime minister brings a distinct philosophy, perspective and vision for Australia. The result is a compelling collection of conversations exploring democracy, work, education, taxation and multiculturalism.

This is the fifth book in Brett’s Wisdom Series. Every seven years, Brett reflects on what he has learned through interviews with prominent leaders and thinkers in their fields:

1998: Collective Wisdom
2005: Universal Wisdom
2012: Business Wisdom
2019: Investment Wisdom
2026: Political Wisdom

Political Wisdom is an insightful read for anyone interested in public policy, leadership or Australian politics. It offers a rare opportunity to understand how these six prime ministers thought, what shaped their decisions and how they approached the immense responsibility of leading Australia forward.
