Unabridged Audiobook
*This Review Contains Spoilers* Absolutely awesome read that really delivers a visceral spotlight on how one of the most iconic artists in the electronic music industry found his way, caught his break, and struggled with loss, failure, alcoholism and depression. By the end of the book I just wanted to give that sad sad bald little man a big hug and tell him to cheer up a little. His voice can be monotonous but it was bearable all in all, having the story come directly from him added a sense of realism. Being an up and coming DJ/producer myself that relates to his struggles towards the beginning of the book much more than any of the success that he managed to find later in life it was nice to see him succeed in an industry that damages and destroys a lot of lives with it's trappings. I was left wondering about how the success of his album "play" affected him because that CD was absolutely beautiful and hugely influential for me. It makes this memoir feel a little incomplete but even the narrow glimpse into the life of Moby was an interesting and very engaging cautionary tale. I will recommend it to any new DJ/producer looking to break into the scene so they can avoid some of the things what lead to depression within it.
