Unabridged Audiobook
Had heard of Moses and some of the myth. When the 99% Invisible podcast announced a read-along I got a copy and was, for the first few episodes, reading along. However, the story quickly became too good to put down. I agree about the volume being on the low scale but I don't know if that is this recording or the app itself. Highly recommend this audio book and am off to start the Johnson bio next.
Masterful work by both the author and the narrator! Robert Moses is important by himself, but the book is also valuable for Caro's wealth of information about politics and urban planning. I listened to 60+ hours without tiring of Dean's narration. For years I'd known that this classic biography existed. I thought I should read it, but I never had time to read 1,300 pages. Over the past several weeks, on trips to the store etc., I've finally caught up with it, thanks to Audiobooks. I'm glad there was no abridgement, too.
Good
Amazing narration. I loved the "Moses voice"
Very long but your interest is held the whole way.
packed full of information . good listen
fantastic book, but way too low in volume. Even the sound all the way up, using headphones or not, plugged into external speakers or not, it's barely passable if you're perfectly still and don't have competing external sounds. If you're moving or outdoors, it's not workable at all.
