This is NOT a book for novice and adventure seekers. It\'s an archival book that tells you 1) about that era and 2) the work that went into that era. If you\'re looking for scandal and foolishness do NOT get this book. But if you would love to know the WORK that it takes to be a superstar...to understand that the success of this man takes VERY STRONG FOCUS, and to learn the psyche of the band members, the engineers, and the staff during this era....THEN BY ALL MEANS, get this book. I learned a lot about the songs that were ultimately in the movie. I also learned that Prince did 95% of the music for his group and his other 2 groups and a solo act. RIP Prince. And though the kids today will eventually forget you, WE WON\'T. Again, great book for reference, but not for excitement.
