Evidence of a struggle. Blood on the carpet. And a housekeeper, vanished.

For Detective Inspector Jasper Reid, Mrs. Zhao is more than just an employee—she is family. So, when it appears Mrs. Zhao has been abducted, Jasper and the woman he loves, morgue assistant Leonora Spencer, will stop at nothing to bring her home.

Desperate for a lead, Jasper and Leo dig up the old Scotland Yard case that brought the much-adored housekeeper into the late Gregory Reid's life. What they uncover is a perilous secret that Mrs. Zhao and Gregory buried, and a checkered past that seems to have finally caught up to her.

While helping Jasper untangle the threat against Mrs. Zhao, Leo is drawn to an investigation into a young boy's death. Unlocking what happened to the boy brings her face to face with a man from her past—a man who may have caused the Spencer family's brutal murder.
