Summary
The Quick and Dirty Guide to the Home Voiceover Industry is a look into the home-based voiceover business, a booming field in the new 'gig' economy. Professional independent voice artist and audiobook narrator Andrew Scott Montgomery walks you through the decision-making process to help you decide if home-based VO work is a potential business—or even a hobby—that might fit you well. Full of real-world anecdotes, laughs, and hard truths, this book is less 'how to' and more 'should you?' but with plenty of useful insights into the real world of pro voiceover work. With foreword by Mike DelGaudio (of YouTube's BOOTH JUNKIE channel), Andrew aims to aid those considering this field of work by helping them make a well-informed decision before even plugging in a mic.

Really well-written. Different from all the other books I've read about this business. Nor just another "here's how easy it is to do VO!!" book. More like a "here's the realities. you up for it?" book. A breath of fresh air. Can't wait to read it again when he updates it!

I have been working on getting started in the home voice over business for the last 9 months. Reading everything I can get my hands on, watching countless hours of YouTube Vids and supposed experts in all the facets of this business from the right mic for my voice to how to do my demos and what to do first. This guide is the absolute best for anyone trying to untangle the massively confusing business of the Home Voice Over industry. Funny relatable step by step guide to how to begin and what not to do, which is very very important. This is the Only book you need to begin, and you Will go back to it for reference.

My introduction to Andrew was through his YouTube videos. I have always appreciated his bare-bones approach to VO work. He tells it like it is. No fluff. As he says, "the real truth, the unvarnished, unsweetened truth." This book follows his video style and is a great read, sprinkled with humor. He pulls the curtain back on the voice-over industry and guides us through what to expect working in VO. There are 21 chapters like - A Day in the Life, One Size Fits None, The Do's and Don'ts for Demos, and Show Me the Money, which are full of direct, no BS advice. Once you finish it, you will be equipped to make a thoroughly informed decision about pursuing a career in this industry. I highly recommend it.
