Summary
A SPECIAL 25TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION NARRATED BY THE AUTHOR

Discover the deliciously dark and fantastically funny No. 1 bestseller about a woman living life rather too well and being whisked away from it all, from the No. 1 bestselling author of Grown Ups

'How did it end up like this? Twenty-seven, unemployed, mistaken for a drug addict, in a treatment centre in the back arse of nowhere with an empty Valium bottle in my knickers . . .'

Meet Rachel Walsh.

She's been living it up in New York City, spending her nights talking her way into glamorous parties before heading home in the early hours to her hot boyfriend Luke.

But her sensible older sister showing up and sending her off to actual rehab wasn't quite part of her plan.

She's only agreed to her incarceration because she's heard that rehab is wall-to-wall jacuzzis, gymnasiums and rock stars going cold turkey - plus it's about time she had a holiday.

Saying goodbye to fun will be hard. But not as hard as losing the man who she realises, all too late, might just be the love of her life . . .

“Gloriously funny” SUNDAY TIMES

“Irresistible, profound . . . Keyes's comic gift is always evident” INDEPENDENT

“Comic, convincing and true” GUARDIAN

“Mercilessly funny” THE TIMES

“Funny, tender and completely absorbing!” GRAHAM NORTON

Brilliant narration by a BRILLIANT narrative writer. I burst into tears at least twice towards the end. And every time I burst into laughter while sobbing, because the writing is so witty. A book about addiction and recovery could have been so grim, but it was such a ride, that it was addictive!

This book is funny and smart. I don’t love her as a narrator.

So well done, poignant, raw, funny and real.

It's a hoot! I love Rachel! Her denial takes her on a life changing adventure. The author's voice is perfect for Irish Rachel. This is a favorite line Rachel spouts off, "Rented out my vagina to a swallow to build a nest in." See what I mean? It's a hoot!

Hilarious! As an alcoholic in recovery, I have encountered some of the same post-sobriety ironies. Some people don’t think before they speak to you as such, & some just don’t get it. Recovery is a personal choice about what kind of life you want to live. Don’t let someone well meaning person offer to take that away.

Didn’t finish the book, very boring

Some things are a bit close to home, makes you think, great characters and a good laugh, though sometimes I wanted to cry, with anger and frustration for the sheer selfishness of the main character

Loved this book! The narrator (author) is fantastic and conveys the spirit and humor of the book perfectly. Addiction is a very real thing and I felt she was sensitive to that while also adding a light side.

Wonderful humorous touch to a difficult issue. The narrator is very good.

This book is difficult to get through. The characters lack depth and are obnoxiously unaware of how self absorbed they are. The plot moves slowly and I felt like it would never get to the point.

This was such a great book. It was hilarious and real and I enjoyed from start to finish

Even though the narrator was the author, I could not get past the poor audio quality and the sound of smacking lips.

A story about modern day life happening to people using drugs and alcohol. It was good was bad. Interesting times.

Raw but highly entertaining. Marian Keyes brings this book to life in the way she reads it. Well worth a listen.

This book brought humor and lightheartedness to heavy topics. I enjoyed the dialogue, although the Irish accent is SUPER heavy. I went right to the sequel after finishing this one!
