When their father is mysteriously taken away, Roberta, Peter and Phyllis leave their comfortable London home for a small cottage beside a railway line in the country. There they find friendship, adventure and a great deal of courage: a perilous landslide, a daring rescue on the line, a Russian exile far from home, and the steady kindness of the Old Gentleman on the 9:15 train.

E. Nesbit's 1906 classic is one of the most beloved family stories in English, by turns funny, suspenseful and quietly moving. This unabridged recording is read in clear, natural English, complete in fourteen chapters, and remains a superb choice for family listening.
