Summary
“Stephenson has a once-in-a-generation gift: he makes complex ideas clear, and he makes them funny, heartbreaking, and thrilling.”
—Time

The #1 New York Times bestselling author of Anathem, Neal Stephenson is continually rocking the literary world with his brazen and brilliant fictional creations—whether he’s reimagining the past (The Baroque Cycle), inventing the future (Snow Crash), or both (Cryptonomicon). With Reamde, this visionary author whose mind-stretching fiction has been enthusiastically compared to the work of Thomas Pynchon, Don DeLillo, Kurt Vonnegut, and David Foster Wallace—not to mention William Gibson and Michael Crichton—once again blazes new ground with a high-stakes thriller that will enthrall his loyal audience, science and science fiction, and espionage fiction fans equally. The breathtaking tale of a wealthy tech entrepreneur caught in the very real crossfire of his own online fantasy war game, Reamde is a new high—and a new world—for the remarkable Neal Stephenson.

REAMDE is the type of book you regret finishing because you miss your new friends. I especially wanted to write a short review to let people know that you do not have to be a computer expert to enjoy this book. You do not have to be an expert at gaming either. These are an element of the book but the main interest is the story and the characters.

I recently found a friend who hasn’t read Neal Stephenson. He asked me to describe his books. I used words like Journey, Swashbuckling, Hilarious, etc. And certainly Reamde was everything I expected. So good. I only wish it was longer. The narrator NAILED the characters perfectly. He’s amazing

It's a very interesting book and I enjoyed it especially since it was 38 hours long. I was able to listen to it the entire month and it was worth it.

I enjoyed the book. Techno stuff about games was interesting. I thought assassin creed was hard sure glad didn’t get into the war online games too tough for me.

An excellent story, as one would expect from Stephenson, but at 38+ hours listening time, quite a challenge to keep following all the threads when you have to listen to the narrative in chunks of time spanning a couple of hours at most. Although I have never played a computer game in my life, let alone the online versions popular today, it was not that difficult to follow the theme and references.

this is Neal Stephenson's weakest work, but it is still a Neal Stephenson book and is pretty good

Although the plot was cumbersome at times, a thoroughly enjoyable novel
