Summary
Who needs a man? They're nothing but a distraction. A disappointment.

They sweep you off your feet, promise you forever. Then, as soon as another beautiful woman shows them interest, they leave you crying alone on the sidewalk with your dreams of a life together crushed.

And the sexy playboy that keeps showing up everywhere I go is the definition of distraction and inevitable disappointment. I can live without that heartbreak. I have everything I need to make me happy—a job, school, friends, and family that I love.

Yep. Mind made up. It's just a shame my heart didn't get the memo.

Contains mature themes.

I found it hard to develop much sympathy for any of the characters in this book. And having stuck it out to the end I find that the story ends on a cliffhanger without a proper resolution. Poorly written, too many tired tropes, and the sex was dull.

Don't waste your time with this book. It dragged on, plot was weak and nothing exciting about it.

The book itself is truly horrible. I listened to all of it just so I could leave an honest review. From non consensual content, to gaslighting, maliciously smiling while the other partner is clearly uncomfortable with the social situations. Overall toxic possessiveness, MC appears not to even know the name of his ‘girlfriend’ just calling her beautiful. Then there’s the fact that author can express joy only with ‘squealing with laughter’ and ‘screaming with laughter’. We are treated to constant explanations of mundane, and all the important bits happen off screen (see food preparations vs their date that is ‘flirting and getting to know each other’ and then cut to next scene without any actual words exchanged between the couple. In conclusion, the couple should have broken up over any of the toxic exchanges in the course of the book, but *spoiler alert* not the misunderstanding but at the end. That was the single most honest experience they shared (facepalm)
