The Rescue Mission: The Bible As We've Never Experienced It Before

The Rescue Mission presents the Bible's overarching narrative as a pause-resisting novel.

With subversive twists and turns, mesmeric highs, and gut-wrenching lows, Pete Atkinson's 'ambitious and captivating' debut work skillfully weaves the threads which run from Genesis to Revelation, marrying brevity and listenability with scale, depth, and detail.

'Impeccably researched', this 'beautifully written' rendering features three narrative voices: one zooms in, seeking to elicit the thoughts and emotions of the Biblical characters; another zooms out and considers the vision and viewpoint of the Godhead, the Trinity; thirdly, a mysterious character discovers the unfolding Biblical accounts in an abandoned warehouse, enabling a modern-day perspective and reaction.

It's 'pacy and evocative'.

It's 'imaginatively original'.

It's the Bible as we've never experienced it before!

'A fascinating and enthralling read... I found it hard to put down.' (Dr. Richard Winter, professor emeritus of practical theology at Covenant Theological Seminary)

'Dramatic. Lively. Well-informed... I enjoyed reading this book, and I'm sure you will, too.' (Dr. Derek Tidball, former principal of London School of Theology and former president of the Baptist Union)
