The story is good, and moves quickly. I listened at 1.35x speed because the recording is a little slow. Although frequently referenced, it didn't center on knitting.The first romance was ham-fisted and the "romance" part was written very obliquely.The last 2 hours felt rushed. There were a lot of time jumps without explanation.

A beautiful and striking story! A vivid portrait of some of the (practical and emotional) difficulties felt by those who lived through this sad and dark period of our history... but also a sign of hope that, however difficult and long the "path" may be, we will eventually be able to free ourselves from the scars that mark us..

I enjoy female spy and espionage stories, especially when based on somewhat true facts.

I loved this book. As an avid yarn crafter I LOVED how they used their yarn craft to aid in the resistance to the war efforts. The character jump off the page and make it feel like you’re watching a movie rather than reading a book. Best book of 2026 so far!

Too predictable and sappy

Enjoyed this book, especially knowing that it was based on true events. Courageous women and men alike DOING what they felt was right in the face of impossible circumstances. Narration was exceptional.

Loved this book.

The story really isn’t about knitting and how the resistance movement used knitting to send messages secretly. The story is mostly about a young, sheltered girl falling in love. The story was ok, narration was good

A compelling listen the whole time. I really enjoyed it. Fascinating how the codes are knitted into socks, scarves, anything. The entire story is quite the emotional ride. Great for listening to whilst getting daily steps.

An easy listen. Disappointed though that the actual encoded knitting and how it was used was not truly featured in the story. It’s more of a love story and many moments are moving. Narrator is talented though struggled with a French accent a little.

An interesting premise with a powerful plot line and great imagery. There was a part that was painful to listen to and the reminder of it made part of the story hard. But in a way that was the intention. Overall well done

I absolutely loved this book! I keep thinking about it even after having finished it which is always an excellent sign. I feel like the end was a little bit rushed but other than that it was fantastic and I will likely go back and read the physical book rather than just listen to the narration, which I don't do on very many books. I highly recommend this!

I think I was expecting the book to take me on the journey of the resistance knitting club, and it not be a side story. However I did very much enjoy it. The Narrating was lovely and kept me engaged.

I really enjoyed the narration. I was hoping the story would have more of the knitting part in it, but it doesn't. It is an interesting reminder of what ordinary people were experiencing at the time.

It's very reminiscent of The Nightingale, but doesn't meet that standard. Still, I love this genre. I just wish the knitting meets spy part was included in the story. My guess is it was all there and some (male) editor thought it wasn't engaging enough. The romance part made no sense, and I think there was a missed opportunity with the landlady. Still, I enjoyed it.

Not a bad book but not riveting either. Was hoping to have a bit more about code and knitting. Did not care for the weird accents from the narrator

It’s a good reminder of what the WWll generation went through and suffered for to retain their freedom.
