Unabridged Audiobook
Sherlock Holmes is one of my most favorite characters, However, one thing about the reading of some of the stories. Since Dr. Watson is the “narrator “ the use of a female voice sounds wrong to me. I do think these stories should be read by a male. That is not meant to imply that women are inadequate In any way, Merely to state that IN MY OPINION, the story, written in a bygone error, would be better served if read in a male voice. Need more men with British accent to read. Female narrator was very robotic took away from story!!!!
love the author and narration. amazing set of stories.
Great stories and it was so refreshing to have a narrator with an English accent
could she sound more robotic!!
I always enjoy Sherlock Holmes.
the ok but the narrator was not good at all.
best I've heard in a long time.
I throughly enjoyed this book!
I like all locks books an reades. there enjoyable an exciting to read thank u thank you for wanting. my opinion
Great to listen to this book!
Stopped narrating was awful
Great stories. Good readers!
Great stories!
Narrators need more interest in their voices which are quite monotone
Excellent classic stories of Sherlock Holmes told by Dr. Watson. Most of the narrators of this book are good, a few are hard to understand. Not bad at all for Librivox.
Enjoyed hearing the stories from times gone bye and although the narrations were clear, narrators who were native Americans mispronounced some words, especially people's and place names. Since the principal characters are men, female narrators were less enjoyayable to listen to.
Most of the narrator were ordinary
I have seen some of these stories on Youtube and enjoy listening to them because the story gives more detail. . I just recently started watching and listening to detective programs and audiobooks. My opinion is that Arthur Conan Doyles stories are more male oriented. The female voice lacks the manly sound for the male characters. Holmes and Watson require a deeper voice to carry the story.
Most of the narrators do a good job, however one did sound robotic and lacked feeling, hence the 4 instead of 5 stars. She still read clearly,
Classic title. Whilst some of the plot devices will seem naive and ham-fisted to a modern reader, it must be remembered that Conan-Doyle was a pioneering author of the detective genre and has since been much copied and improved upon. The narration is steady enough although there are some mistakes in pronunciation and errors in reading some grammar and sentence structure. That being said, all narrators have freely given their time to ensure that classic titles can be heard so I believe a few mistakes a very forgivable
Another great collection of short stories. Most of the narrators did a great job
Interesting and entertaining. Narrators were also good!
Fun wonderful stories that would be all the better with even, professional narration.
I really like the stories of Sherlock Holmes and really enjoyed listening to these. Perfect for listening to while driving. The narrator was pleasant listening to.
Men should read men parts/stories. Did not like female reader.
Good time-passing tales when doing housework!
I love the Sherlock Homes adventures they are of much enjoyment. I did not know that this collection of stories was available I appreciate the narration is made up of volunteers, some are excellent in there story telling. A great listening experience all the same
The book is fantastic. Love the stories. The narration is amateur, but better than most amateur readings.
narration varies in quality. i found it difficult to listen to the female narrators.
