It is quite possible that many readers at the time of publication would have been enthralled by this book and its companion. However, a great deal of the rather verbose content seems superfluous to the modern reader. The concept of sending a projectile to the moon seems impracticable by today's standards. Still, the adventure was entertaining enough to engage the imagination.
