Summary
Alice. First thing you should know about me: I'm on my honeymoon on Villroy Island without my groom, which was a no-brainer given how my ex-fiance decided to 'accidentally' fall in love with my best friend. I don't want to talk about it.

Second thing: I'm a romance author on a generously extended deadline, and I've sworn to use this time away productively. I'm about to admit defeat when a prince with an image problem falls into my lap. And for some crazy reason, it's decided that me posing as his fiance would be a good idea. The last thing I want is to actually be committed to someone, but a fake engagement may make this next book write itself.

Lucas. I want to contribute to the kingdom, be part of the legacy. I should be the CEO of our new business venture, but my oldest brother, Gabriel, the king, blocks me at every turn, convinced I'm too flighty. So when Gabriel's wife, Anna, offers me a chance to prove myself with the bankers, and the only catch is bringing along a fake fiance, I reluctantly agree. I never expected to fall. Yet here I am, hell-bent on convincing a woman afraid to get involved that she belongs with me.

Contains mature themes.

Sugar up that spice with a dash of Kylie Gilmore. Bring on the smiles served up with heart and get ready to wallow in some fun. The Rourkes are back. Royal Charmer is a whole lot of sunshine with a hint of heat. Alice and Lucas are a modern day fairytale, that will make a believer out of you. Happily ever after gets off to rough start, but blue skies are on the horizon. Give your heart a break and your day a lift with some heartwarming fun.

I am loving this series and the twists on various tropes. This time we have a Regency author who gets roped into a fake engagement for reasons, so princely behavior is a big theme. It was lots of fun and very romantic. My favorite part of the book was Alice. Given what she has been through, you might expect a lot of self-doubt. She does doubt herself, but she is learning to turn those thoughts around. She was already on a path toward a healthy self-image before Lucas, and he only complements that. In addition, she is kind and very funny. I absolutely believed that she could knock Lucas's pins out from under him. Lucas does a lovely job of supporting Alice while trying to reorient his life. I sympathized with his frustration, and I was happy that he learned a few things about himself, too. Watching his heart get tangled in the fake engagement was so delicious. Very swoon worthy. The narrators both did a terrific job of this one. They seemed to be enjoying the story, too. I replayed some parts just to listen to them read.
