Unabridged Audiobook
This book is a journey to say the absolute least. Talk about foundation-shaking. This was the spiritual closet-cleaning that my soul NEEDED. John Mark Comer is brilliant. For any followers of Jesus that feel the hustle and grind of the day to day is choking you into submission, read this book. Scrap that, ANYBODY who feels that kind of pressure should read this. Some of the stats in here are alarming and need to be made known. If you aren’t a Christian, you will benefit from this book AND you might find Jesus. Everyone needs to read this and just slowwwwwwww wayyyyyyy downnnnnn.
This book by JMC was transformational! Considering why and how I do the things I do shows me that God is speaking to me more than I realize. For too long distraction and presumption has directed my life more than I understand. I have lived in the amount of God’s presence as I have allowed Him to and I am not satisfied. Eliminating hurry, distraction, and pride from my life will bring more of Him and transform the world around me as I live in said presence. Enjoy this book and allow jt to show you the things that direct your attention away from God’s glorious beauty and learn how to continually live in the very power of the Most High.
Well written and perfectly read. Applicable to 90% of US citizens. It’s time to slow down and simplify. And make our priority a relationship with our one true God. I would like to lead a healthy life. This is the instruction manual. Read more than once.
Biblically-grounded and contemporarily relevant to all who aspire to truly follow Jesus! JMC challenges our current contextual concepts of “Christian living” and happily and humbly invites us along his own, relatable, and personal journey as an apprentice to The Master!
This book opened my eyes to a number of things especially to slow down and trust in Jesus in my everyday life
I absolutely love this book! I have listened to it three times - finding another nugget of wisdom in it each time. I’m retired so hurry isn’t a major issue for me. However, Comer’s advice on the observance of a more disciplined Sabbath, stepping away from technology and getting rid of unnecessary “stuff” was life changing. I was so inspired by this book, that I gave it to all my friends for Christmas! Comer’s a great narrator, too! Listen to this one - you won’t be sorry!
Super hip, cool, but not deep, probably not really truth. Liberal, leftist. Boring.
Short but insightful. I listened to it twice and found much of it beneficial. I am type A so yes, I need help slowing down.
Truly life changing principles and guidance. I have never been hooked on a book like I was on this one. Will be coming back to this book every few years for a reminder and refresher.
Boring, common sense information drawn out for 5+ hours
This book gave me the inspiration I need to better put my relationship with God first. It is written from a Christian perspective without being exclusive to that theology, and applies to anyone wishing to get their priorities in order, and not in a judgmental or preachy kind of way. John Mark Comer understands real life and approaches everything in an encouraging and positive style. He goes deep because he's thought it well through, and what he has to say is enlightening.
Life Changing
Love love love
it was definitely a great lesson
Overall book is fine. Basic ideas that need to be remembered. 2 stars because of a lack of historical accuracy and 1-sided propaganda. The author shares opinion like it is truth and unfortunately shows a lack of integrity in his writing.
Life changing
We all need to follow this way of life because hurry does not add up to joy and contentment
