The wet sheet slipped slowly from her face and she began to count. There were eleven, in all. She was last in line, but he was getting closer. He'd be to her soon . . .

As though stumbling out of a nightmare, rookie cop Alex Kincaid awakens in her car, dazed and confused. Parked on an unfamiliar street, she's outside an unfamiliar home with no recollection of how she got there, and no memory of the night before.

Then her nightmare becomes reality.

Alex's first call of the day takes her to the same street, to the same house, where a man has been brutally killed. Alex thinks the man is a perfect stranger-until she finds herself the main suspect in his murder.

And now, as she races to clear her name, she's haunted by memories of a horrific thirty-year-old crime-a crime that links her to the dead man . . . and marks her as the killer's next target.

Very entertaining story. Kept me guessing to the end. Excellent narration!

Listened to this on a long business trip and it was every entertaining. I really like the character development and how the lead character went from this tough young police woman to seemingly helpless victim. Only to find her bearings to fight back through the helpless confusion. Well narrated as well....

loved it! fantastic VIP pick :)

that is a messed up story!!!

  • Kimberly S.

The narration is flat, one tone, and doesn’t show character emotion. The storyline is regurgitated. Something we’ve heard a hundred times. The protagonist is unlikeable with no depth. Just my two cents.

I thought it was great. Scary though to think someone in Judith's position would do that It happens though. The mind control in mental. health. I know for a fact it does.

-Good read. Some inconsistencies in the actions, but overall very entertaining and enjoyable. .. - -..,

The narrator did her best but she had very little to work with.
