Summary:

S is for silence: the silence of the lost, the silence of the grave, the silence of oblivion.

Thirty-four years ago, Violet Sullivan put on her party finery and left for the annual Fourth of July fireworks display. She was never seen again. In the small California town of Serena Station, tongues wagged. Some said she'd run off with a lover. Some said she was murdered by her husband. But for the not-quite-seven-year-old daughter Daisy that she left behind, her absence has never been explained or forgotten.

Now, thirty-four years later, she wants the solace of closure.

In S IS FOR SILENCE, Kinsey Millhone's nineteenth excursion into the world of suspense and misadventure, S is for surprises as Sue Grafton takes a whole new approach to telling the tale. And S is for superb: Kinsey and Grafton at their best.

Great story! Not completely sure of a crime or just a woman who left until ahe was found. So many characters with motives and a story to keep you guessing. Great writer and great narrator, loved it!!

  • Jerry D.

As with all of the alphabet books by Sue Grafton I really enjoyed this one. However, I was a little lost following all the characters and how they fit into the end.

  • Amy F.

I loved loved loved this one.

Love Kinsey Milhone! and this one doesn't disappoint! Characters are well developed and the story keeps you listening!

This unabridged version was way too long and dragged out. I couldn't wait for it to end.

  • Sue

The story was excellent in every way as is usual with Sue Grafton's books. But, I really wanted to comment on the amazing narration of Judy Kaye - she absolutely becomes the character and makes it seem so effortless. I was thrilled to see Judy receive a Tony this year for her role in "The Best Man" on Broadway - bravo Judy!

This was a fun book. There were a lot of characters to keep track of but I enjoyed the suspense. It went quickly.
