Beautiful book. But Kingsolver’s introduction ruffles my feathers big time. I am SO tired of the popular blanket dissing of environmentalists. It’s akin to the dissing of unions to me. Without realizing or admitting or even, knowing ALL the things that unions have gifted us over time, unions are scorned for a myriad of petty nothings. This I believe, is largely manufactured scorn, paid for by Big Money because unions cut into profits. Just look who politics against them. So goes the tirade and movement against the “urban environmentalist” who everybody supposes is a flaky idealist with no knowledge of country folk and the realities of life. This is blind and stupid. It’s a cheap shot. Who do you suppose opens their check books to help the Nature Conservancy and similar organizations? Etc etc etc. Kingsolver should know better. This audio book is missing 100 pages. From 101 A sand county, in part 3, to page 201, where it continues the land ethic. the narrator was clear and easy to understand. It was just sad when I noticed sections from this book missing.
