I’m still pretty new to mafia romance, but this one just set the bar. Mateo completely won me over. The way he pursued Violet, protected her without trying to change her, and made her feel safe, supported, and deeply loved? That’s the kind of book boyfriend I can get behind. And Violet? She was everything. Fierce, sassy, and just the right amount of savage. She never backed down, and I loved that she could hold her own while still allowing herself to be loved. From the first chapter to the last, I was completely hooked. If this is what mafia romance has to offer, I absolutely understand the obsession.

I listened to the audiobook while reading along this story and Violet probably my favorite FMC of this series. I love a strong FMC and Violet is strong as heck. This is not a damsel in distress, come save me, I need a man to be complete kind of story. But rather, one of those romances where both main characters complement each other, complete each other, and are strong independent of each other. I also fell in love with Mateo, who immediately falls for Violet and knows she is his endgame. This is a very fast moving relationship, where both characters develop feelings quickly and don't hold back. The spice on this one was also top notch and that sp@nking scene?? Hot, hot, hot. I also loved the story behind the romance and what Violet, Mateo, and the rest of the Kings set out to do. The narration by Jason Clarke and Mollie Stark was exquisite. Jason is a master at narrating hot morally gray men, but Mollie was pure perfection voicing Violet. She sounded exactly like I imagined. Definitely another amazing installment in this series.
