I enjoyed it, but this book is introductory. If you don’t know where to start your self-care journey, this is a great start. If you’re in the middle of enhancing your practice, these are great reminders. If you read many self-help books, engage in personal therapy, and practice self-care routinely, you may benefit from reviewing these concepts.

I appreciated all of the concepts in the book and implemented “Friluftsliv” (enjoying time outdoors in nature) while listening. I listened in the spring and it inspired me to get outside every day. I do not always spend at least 20 minutes in nature, even though I know it is beneficial. This book and the concept of Friluftsliv was a good reminder to get outside without technology and just be. I will work to incorporate several of the other concepts into my daily life. I recommend this book with one caveat. The Scandinavian concepts are great and can be applied by anybody. However, the author brought in quite a bit of meditation, which I was not expecting. Meditation is an eastern concept not a Scandinavian concept. The act of being in nature and taking notice of what you see, hear, feel, smell, and otherwise observe is a great practice and is different from some of the eastern meditation at the end of several chapters. I do not condone eastern meditation. I listened to this on audio, which made it a lovely experience since I didn’t have to guess how to pronounce the words every time I came across one of the non-English concepts. The narrator did a great job. She is very soothing to listen to.

Loved it! And loved the narrator. Also very impressive that she can pronounce those foreign language words so well.
