The Sea-Wolf is a novel written in 1904 by American author Jack London. An immediate bestseller, the first printing of forty thousand copies was sold out before publication. I had read the book a long time ago and loves it. I made through the 1st chapter, but the narrators monotone voice wouldn't allow me to go any further. It ruined the story.

I am in the middle of this listen, but I can say that I was captured from the very beginning. Excitement and suspense started immediately and escalated throughout the story. The author bills the character of the captain, Wolf Larsen, in a way that in spite of of his unbelievable brutality, I cannot help but be drawn to him because of his surprising redeeming qualities. I can see why the author, Jack London, is such a renowned author. His knowledge of the sea and sailing ships is exceeded only by his obvious literary and writing skills. A great listen.

The book is exciting if you know it was written in 1904. The romantic aspect strained credibility. The narration was not good, however very flat.

  • Nicky Sutcliffe

Good book but let down by the monotone narrator.

  • Kathy Whitman

I enjoyed the story but narrator sounded like he had no interest in reading it.
